Travon Hamilton Signs a LOI with Dawson Men’s Basketball
Combine Academy point guard, Travon Hamilton, is the latest signing to join the DCC Men’s Basketball Team. The 5’10 point guard is small in stature, but strong and athletic. He is very good defensively and knows how to run a team. Hamilton handles the ball well, sees the floor and gets his teammates involved. He has a convincing three-point shot and is capable of getting to the basket and finishing in traffic. As a high school senior at Cathedral Academy in Charleston, South Carolina, he led his team to a 23-8 record and helped his team reach the State’s Final 4. Averaging 15.2 ppg, 4.7 apg and 2.3 rpg, he was selected as the South Carolina Independent School Association Player of the Year as well as All-Region and All-State. He represented his state in the annual North Carolina/South Carolina All-star game. For the season he averaged 15.2 ppg, 4.7 apg and 2.3 rpg.
During this past year, he attended prep school at Combine Academy in North Carolina where he competed against some of the top prep schools and junior colleges on the East Coast. He averaged 12.2 ppg and 5.2 apg while shooting 40% from the 3 point line and 78% from the free throw line.
Hamilton explained his choice, “The reason for attending Dawson is because it is a small school where I can meet everyone and get a lot of one on one time with teachers.”
Coach Peterson had a lot of good things to say, “Travon is a high character young men who is a great teammate. He loves to set up others and does a lot of little things that make a big difference like playing tough defense and coming up with loose balls. I think he has a lot of potential as a college basketball player and I look forward to helping him develop on and off the court.”
