DCC Men Hammered By Central Wyoming
Bucs lose again 56-95
In their 2nd game of the Best Western Classic in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Dawson Community College fell behind early and never got it going Saturday night against Central Wyoming College. Eight days prior, the Bucs beat them 83-78. Tonight it was a different story. The Bucs started the game with a nice turnaround jumper by Daniel Shedden. CWC opened up a lead on a three-pointer by Chris Quayle and an offensive rebound and put-back by Irshaad Hunte. DCC answered back with a driving lay-up by Brent Finn, but after that, CWC took control getting points in transition and dominating the glass. They outrebounded the Bucs 26-7 in the first half. Six three-pointers also helped the cause with 3 by Quayle, 2 by Marcus Nolan and 1 by Ronnie Barfield. On the other end, the Bucs were not connecting. They only hit 1 of 8 from long range in the first 20 minutes. By halftime, CWC had built an 18 point lead 44-26.
The second half didn’t seem to get any better for the Bucs as CWC continued to build on their lead. It never got close as they rolled to a 95-56 drubbing. Five players were in double figures in a balanced attack for CWC. Their two post players each had double doubles with Hunte scoring 13 points and collecting 10 rebound and Aihan Demir getting 17 points and 13 rebounds. Aaron Frost and Brent Finn posted double figures for the Bucs who only managed to shoot 32% for the game and 12% from the 3 point line (2-17).
It was a long night for the Buccaneers who are glad to be coming home for two games this week. On Tuesday night they will take on Northwest College from Powell, Wyoming and on Thursday night they face off with Yellowstone Christian College from Billings.
