DCC BUCS REMAIN UNDEFEATED
Dawson defeats Rocky Mountain JV 105-83
The DCC Men’s basketball team carried their record to 4-0 on the young season by beating the Rocky Mountain College JV team 105-83 Saturday afternoon in the Toepke Center on DCC’s campus. It was a hard fought first half with DCC taking a 6 point lead at 43-37. They gradually increased their lead in the second half as the Bears got into some foul trouble and wore down against the depth of the Buccaneers. The Bears were paced by Isaac Martel’s 26 points and 11 rebounds. Monte Cayko had 23 points and 8 rebounds before fouling out. Koltin Haugrose scored 17, but only hit 3 of 11 from long range.
The Bucs were led by Daniel Shedden’s 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Kolton Wall had 18 points and 8 rebounds in 21 minutes and Victor Henriquez 15 points and 7 rebounds before leaving the game with an injury in the 2nd half.
DCC shot 45% from the field and limited RMC to 37% shooting. Rocky stayed in the game by going to the free throw line 35 times, but they had a hard time stopping the home team in the 2nd half. The Bucs scored 62 points in the final half when they shot 52% FG, 43% 3’s and 70% FT. The deep bench of DCC wore the Bears down, outscoring them 47-8.
DCC continues a busy stretch with 3 more games next week, including a battle with Yellowstone Christian in Billings on Tuesday and competing in a tournament at Gillette College next weekend.
