Shedden signs at MSU-B
Daniel Shedden decides to stay in State
Dawson Community College’s Daniel Shedden signed his National Letter of Intent with Montana State University- Billings this week. Originally from Puntarenas, Costa Rica, Shedden came to Dawson two years ago.
In his freshman year, it took him a while to feel at home on the court, but once he did, he really took off. In conference, he averaged 13 ppg, 5 rpg and shot 54% from the field, playing mostly as a forward. As a sophomore, he switched to the wing position and had a great individual season averaging 17.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.2 apg and 2 spg. He upped his scoring again in the conference averaging 19.0 ppg. He was on the All-Region XIII team this past year. He was the Bucs leading scorer and shot-blocker this season and was second in rebounding, assists and steals. He scored over 30 points in 2 games and over 20 points in 7 games. He secured double digit rebounds in 6 games. His season high was 31 points and 16 rebounds against Yellowstone Christian College.
DCC Coach Joe Peterson commented, “I’m really excited for Daniel. It is a tough transition coming to a new country and starting college in a language that you have recently learned, but Daniel kept a great attitude, never gave up and worked extremely hard in the classroom and on the court. He also received great support from the DCC administration, faculty, staff and the community of Glendive who really enjoyed watching him play basketball. I’ve heard many comments from people around town who appreciate the passion and emotion he plays with. He always gives 100% effort in practice and games. His competitive drive and determination has been a driving force for our program over the last two years. Daniel was getting recruited by schools at different levels all over the country, but I’m glad he decided to stay close to “home” and chose MSU-B. It will be fun to follow his progress and hopefully watch him play. He will be dearly missed here at Dawson, but we wish him success in this new chapter in his life.”
