Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball is pleased to announce the signing of Jazmyn Bennett of Weber High School in Weber, Utah. Jazmyn officially signed her NJCAA National Letter of Intent to suit up for the Lady Buccaneers in the Fall of 2022.
Dawson Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. expressed his excitement, “Jazmyn is a player we’ve been needing for a while to create more damage within the season. She’s very strong, knows what her position entails and does it well. Opponents will have trouble because Jazmyn is a certified rim protector. We also like that she actively screens and passes the ball out of double teams well. Her personality is spunky, and we will get along quite well.”
The 6’4 post player averaged 9 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks at Weber High School.
This past season, Jazmyn was voted 6A Region 1 Honorable Mention, 6A All-Area Honorable Mention, and her team’s Defensive Player of the Year. In 2020-2021, she was 6A All-Area Honorable Mention and her team’s Offensive Player of the Year. As a sophomore, she was voted 6A Region 1 Second Team.
Jazmyn commented on her signing, “I signed to Dawson because of the town environment and how involved everyone is and how much experience coach Romeo has and how much he wants his players to succeed.”
Weber Coach Clayton Jackson shared his thoughts as well, “Jaz is going to bring a lot to Dawson both on the court and in the classroom. She is going to be a real force in the middle, both on defense and offense for the Buccaneers. She was always a great example to her teammates about what it means to be a Weber High Warrior. The school, her teammates and coaches couldn’t be more proud of her as she continues her basketball career.”
