Dawson Lady Hoops Win Again on the Road
Once again, in dominating fashion, the Lady Buccaneers of Dawson Community College defeated the Dickinson State University JV team on the road 75-50.
Dawson smothered their opponents with their full-court press, finishing the first quarter 22-9. The Lady Bucs would lead the game into the half 37-19. Every quarter was won by DCC, except the fourth. Dickinson JV made a little run of their own when the Lady Hawks outscored Dawson 17-15. It was Dawson’s defense that prevailed where the wounds were too deep.
Big Timber native and former Class B State Tournament MVP Hailee Brandon led the game with 25 points. Freshman newcomer Samantha Jenkins poured in 14 points. Sophomores Brianna Bergum and Olivia Williams added 11 points, while Logan Stetzner chipped in with 7.
DCC Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. added his thoughts, “Our defense is improving every game. It’s nice to see how productive our practices have been, and enjoying the results. There is also more balanced scoring. It’s a great sign to have where almost all of our players are bought in and playing very hard and smart, and on any given night any player of ours is capable of scoring big while others are contributing the same.”
Dawson is now 8-3 on the season, and will travel this weekend to Gillette, WY to battle in the border wars between NJCAA Region 13 and Region 9. DCC will face Casper College on December 4th at 3:15 pm, and Western Wyoming the next day.
