DCC Women Defeat Dickinson State JV
The visiting Blue Hawks had a tough time handling the stifling team defense of Dawson Community College. The DCC Lady Buccaneers defeated the Dickinson State University JV women’s basketball team 73-45 on Friday night in Glendive. Dawson scored 28 points off turnovers and forced a total of 36 turnovers. The Lady Bucs collected 27 steals.
It was very one-sided, as Dawson went into halftime leading 44-19. By the end of the game, DCC outscored DSU JV 46-12 in the paint and 15-1 with second chance scoring advantages. “I was very impressed with our team defense. The players are very committed to rotations, deflections and harassing opponents. They try their best to learn from each game, win or lose. With that mentality, it’s hard for any coach to not be pleased with those efforts,” said DCC Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr.
Hailee Brandon of Big Timber, MT was one rebound shy of a double double with a game high 15 points and 9 rebounds. Hailee also had 3 steals. Tri-Cities standout from Garniell, MT, Brianna Bergum trailed with 14 points and 3 steals of her own. Eva Kingston had a good overall game of 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Samantha Jenkins added 12 points, 3 rebounds and also had 5 steals. Logan Stetzner of Anaconda, MT came off the bench to contribute 6 points, 4 steals and 5 assists. Olivia Williams of Minneapolis, MN pumped in a solid 6 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Natalija Beleska of Macedonia had 5 points, 5 assists and 3 steals.
