Baseball lands Canadian recruit
Joey Hagen commits to DCC
Buccaneer Baseball has inked their first International signee under the Lewis tenure with Joey Hagen from Dartmouth, NS, CANADA. Hagen, a right handed pitcher, attended the iCASE Baseball Academy and Northwestern High School in Ontario this past year. He was named to the all-tournament team at the Perfect Game WWBA national qualifier this past September. Hagen’s past accomplishments also include playing for U17 Team Nova Scotia the past two summers where he had the chance to take the mound at the 2015 and 2016 Canada Cup against New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan.
Hagen had this to say about his future and signing with Dawson, “Dawson meets my needs academically with the Criminal Justice program and I’m excited to pursue my education in that avenue. It also offers me a chance to do what I love and that's play baseball. I am beyond excited to get started with the Buccaneers this coming Fall. The coaching staff and teachers at Dawson have been beyond helpful and they've welcomed me with open arms. The city of Glendive is quite different than my home town of Dartmouth. I am intrigued by the small outdoorsy town of Glendive and am looking forward to calling the city my home for the next two years.”
Coach Chris Lewis says, "We are really excited to have Joey join us for next year. He is without a doubt the type of person we want and need in our program. He is mature beyond his years and will bring a tremendous work ethic to our team. He comes from a great family and the credit goes to Coach Schoonover for identifying and working hard at the process to get Joey here. Our entire coaching staff is excited to dive in and get to work with Joey."
