Baseball adds Player from the Southwest Region
Brandon Gardenhire of New Mexico commits to DCC
Brandon Gardenhire – OF – Piedra Vista HS – Farmington, NM
Gardenhire is a left handed hitting outfielder from Piedra Vista High School in Farmington, New Mexico. In his freshman and sophomore summers, Brandon played for the Farmington River Cats. This summer, the outfielder is playing for the Four Corner ClubSox, who just won the Connie Mack city tournament and will be representing their region in the Connie Mack World Series starting next week. Gardenhire was named to the All-District Team, the All-Academic Team and won the PVHS “Big Stick” award in his junior season; an award given to the most complete hitter in the program.
An excited Coach Chris Lewis says, “We are absolutely thrilled that Brandon chose to begin his collegiate career here at DCC. He is a great kid, who comes from a great family and he comes from a great high school program as well. Piedra Vista head coach Mike McGaha does as good of a job as anybody getting his guys ready for college both on and off the field. Our programs are very similar, so Brandon will be a great addition to our clubhouse and understands the culture we are trying to build. Brandon can run, he can hit and he can cover ground in the outfield as well. We are looking forward to getting the chance to help him get better.”
Gardenhire said, “I chose to commit to Dawson CC because I know I will be in great hands with the coaching staff. Playing baseball at the college level has been a dream of mine since I stepped on the field for the first time when I was in T-ball. I believe that DCC will prepare me both academically and athletically for my next stage in life.”
