Dawson’s Lexia Bell-White Signs with NAIA School
Dawson Community College Lady Bucs Basketball sophomore Lexia Bell-White has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at NAIA Division I Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida.
Edward Waters has recorded 20 plus wins in the last 3 seasons. This past season they were in second place again in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference with an overall record of 25-6. Lexia will be joining the Lady Tigers and playing for 8th year head coach Charmaine Wilson this Fall 2018.
Lexia Bell-White averaged 12 ppg and 6 rpg in the 2017-2018 season. She shot 38% from the field and 72% from the foul line. She currently holds 3.94 gpa and a cumulative 3.54.
Lexia on playing down south, “My road to Dawson was a little rough. I got an offer from Coach Romeo during summer ball, and I am thankful for him to give me that opportunity these two years. I am blessed to have a supportive family that believe in me as well as my siblings that I look up to who are always pushing me. To all my family, teammates, and coaches, I wouldn’t have made it to this point of signing and getting another chance to get to play basketball and obtain my degree at Edward Waters College. I’d like to say thank you to Coach Wilson at EWC for giving me this opportunity. I picked Edward Waters because after talking to Coach Wilson, I could tell she had a passion for the game. I’m excited to learn a new style of play in the south.”
DCC Head Coach Romeo Lagmay said, “Lexia will be joining a very strong conference that plays tough competition day in day out. You’ve got to be mentally and physically strong to handle it. If Lexia can manage those two things, she will definitely be a major factor for Edward Waters because Lexia is definitely an athletic player who can be significant on the defensive and offensive end. She deserves this opportunity and Dawson couldn’t be happier for her.”
Edward Waters College Coach Charmaine Wilson had this to say about signing Lexia, “Our conference is one of the most rugged conferences in the country and Lexia’s ability to defend, crash the boards, and press will definitely help us next season. She’s a very versatile player, one we can use inside in the post and on the perimeter.”
