Lady Bucs lose first Conference Game on the Road
DCC Lady Buccaneers basketball lost their second game of conference play on the road at Bismarck State College. Bismarck State controlled every quarter offensively defeating, DCC 80-65.
Every quarter was somewhat close, but the Lady Bucs couldn’t seem to get over the edge. Three starters for the Lady Mystics were in high double digit scoring compared to only two starters for DCC in double digits. Bismarck shot very well on the night as they were 48% from the field, 55% from 3 point range and 78% from the foul line. Dawson would shoot an impressive 86% from the foul line, but shot a game low 31% from the field and 24% from the 3-point line. Bismarck also outrebounded the Lady Bucs 48-42. However, Dawson had 18 steals to Bismarck’s 10. DCC converted 23 points off those turnovers, but didn’t get enough scoring from the other starting players.
Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. on the game, “It was an unfortunate night for us on the offensive end. If we have our usual players scoring, we win the ball game. Basketball is funny like that though. Sometimes you’re on and sometimes you’re off. I still like where we’re at in conference play. I believe we will bounce back to the Dawson way, and come out on top in the end.”
Alexius Foster was on fire as usual with a game high 25 points, along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Emily Harwood had a productive night, while playing out of position, scoring 14 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and having 5 steals. Sara Anderson came off the bench to chip in 10 points, 3 rebounds and 5 steals.
The Lady Bucs will return home to face off in the second round of conference play, hosting Williston State College on Thursday, February 1st at 5:30 pm. Both women’s and men’s games will be accepting new shoes and monetary donations in their second annual Barefoot Coaching event which raises awareness for those who do not have proper footwear.
