Lady Bucs defeat Eastern Montana All-Stars
Dawson wins 91-40
In their second game of the season at home, the Dawson Community College Lady Buccaneers outmatched the Eastern Montana All-Stars 91-40. What was always a very close game annually between the two teams, DCC was able to romp the All-Stars this season from beginning to end.
Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. was taking no chances this year. “In 2015, we lost to them. Then last season, we won on a buzzer beater. This time, I had to make sure our team did not take them lightly. Our players bought into that, and came out strong. I’m glad they responded,” a smiling Coach Lagmay said.
In the first half, DCC had 15 steals, 11 assists, 23 points off the bench and a halftime lead of 42-15. The second was much the same ending the game with 61 rebounds, 20 assists and 22 steals. However, the Lady Bucs committed 22 team fouls and 18 turnovers. “In games like this we must have a focus to improve as a team in getting better in all areas while limiting weaknesses as well. We still have much to learn,” Coach Lagmay continued to comment.
All players were in the scoring column, with sophomore transfer Julia Robarge leading the game with 20 points along with 5 rebounds. Returning sophomore Lexia Bell-White had 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Freshman Trahnea Phelan of Hardin, MT had a solid overall game scoring 10 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
The Lady Bucs will play their first official road game this season, hoping to sweep the Lady Storm of Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College in their second matchup within a week in New Town, ND on Wednesday, November 8 at 5:30 pm.
