DCC Athletics Hosts Special Day for 3 Year Old Troy Ross
At the women’s basketball game on Sunday, the DCC Athletic Department stood “TroyStrong” for a young boy who is having health issues. Troy Ross is a three year old from Great Falls, MT. He was diagnosed with Pulmonary Capillaritis at the end of September. It’s a rare autoimmune condition that attacks a person’s lungs. Troy spent over 30 days in Seattle Children’s Hospital. All of the different athletic programs produced videos of encouragement which they posted on social media while he was in the hospital. Donated blood is a huge factor in why Troy survived and DCC had the great privilege to host a blood drive in honor of Troy back in early October. During the last week of November, DCC worked with Sassy Chicks Printshop in Great Falls to create our own #TroyStrong shirts. The profits from the sales are being donated to the Ross Family to help with their travel and medical expenses. The student-athletes as well as many other students and fans proudly wore their new shirts to the game.
The Lady Bucs basketball team invited Troy to be their honorary coach at Sunday’s game against Sheridan College. Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr and his team also offered to donate all the proceeds from Sunday’s ticket sales, 50/50 drawing and half-time Pop-A-Shot competition to the family to help with their travel and medical expenses. If anyone would also like to contribute something for the family, please contact DCC Financial Aid Director Danielle Dinges at 406-377-9410.
The Lady Bucs provided a thriller for Troy and his family. Alexius Foster scored a basket with 3 seconds left in regulation to send it to overtime where the Lady Bucs took care of business, defeating Sheridan College 73-66.
