Dawson Softball Coach Casey-May Huff Announces Resignation
National Search to Begin Immediately
GLENDIVE, Mont. - After four seasons on the staff and three seasons at the helm, Dawson Community College Head Softball Coach Casey-May Huff has announced her resignation. Longtime Assistant Coach Riley Caudle will also be stepping away.
"On behalf of Riley and myself, we would like to thank Dawson and the Glendive community for all the support these last few years," Huff stated. Coming to Dawson has been a huge blessing from start to finish and we will forever be grateful for our time here. Leaving has not been an easy decision, but God has opened a new door; one that will allow us to spend more time with our little one."
In the past three seasons as the head coach, Huff led Dawson to a 97-55 overall record (63.8%) and a 54-14 conference record (79.4%) while winning three straight Region XIII Championships. She has coached 11 All-Region players and 10 All-Conference players. Fifty-seven of her student-athletes have been honored as Academic All-Conference over the past three years.
Every year her program has set a new Dawson Athletic Department record for Team GPA, culminating with a 3.76 Team GPA this past year. Every one of their athletes achieved over a 3.4 GPA and all of the sophomores graduated.
"Casey-May has done an outstanding job of leading this program," shared Athletic Director Joe Peterson. "They have achieved excellence on the field and in the classroom while also serving in various ways all over our community in a positive way. I am constantly hearing thanks and appreciation from people on campus and in the community about ways that our softball players and program have blessed others. Our softball program is one of the shining lights of our institution and I would expect that to continue next year and into the future."
This past season the team finished 30-16 overall and 15-5 in the Mon-Dak Conference. They went on to win the Region XIII Tournament by beating Lake Region State College 12-0, Dakota County Technical College 14-3 and then Miles Community College 5-4 in the championship. Their season ended in the District Championship Series when they lost to #10 ranked Des Moines Area Community College at home.
Peterson continued, "I want to thank Casey-May for how she stepped in and led our softball program over these past few years. We have a proud tradition of success here and she has enhanced that. Her dedication to our softball program and the student-athletes she has coached has been first class. Riley has also served the softball program and the college in so many ways over the past seven years. These coaches poured their hearts and souls into the program and the ladies they were able to coach. They are leaving Dawson in a better place than they found it. We wish their family nothing but the best in their next endeavor."
Dawson will initiate a national search process for the next Head Coach immediately.
