Lady Bucs Fall to Science
This past weekend the Lady Bucs played a four game series against North Dakota State School of Science. The Bucs won game one 8-2, but couldn't make it happen for the other three games. Scores in favor of NDSCS were 9-7, 8-6, and 13-5.
Saturday the bats were hot for Dawson, they out hit Science 26-19. The overall team average at the plate was 0.433, with four homeruns, 15 RBI's and an overall ERA of 3.5 from the pitching staff.
"We shut down their offense really well on Saturday," head coach Casey-May Huff stated, "their big hitters really didn't do much against us, which was a large part of our success."
Sunday's games were not as successful. NDSCS out hit DCC 21-16. They took advantage of the 12 walks and shut down the Lady Buc's lead hitters, showing in an average of 0.286. Although the Bucs showed some fight and rallied a couple innings, it wasn't enough to take the lead.
"Science is a very tough team," Coach Huff said, "if you give them any chance on base they will capitalize on it. We were right in every game, we just can't give up a big inning to a team like that. It was nice to see the girls have some grit and the ability to fight back in all the games we played this weekend, but we have to figure out how to be more consistent all the way through. We cannot decide to find the intensity when we are trailing from behind . . . makes it very hard to come back and win against a team like Science."
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to play Miles Community College this Friday and Saturday.
