Another Series Sweep for the Lady Bucs
This past weekend the Lady Bucs softball team played Lake Region State in a four game series in Glendive. Scores in favor of the Bucs were 9-1, 10-0, 17-7, and 13-4.
"It was a great weekend for our team," Head softball coach Casey-May Huff stated, "we were able to play some girls that normally don't get in as consistently and they really stepped up! From the very beginning in August we always talk about how one through 24 needs to be ready to go . . . we don't just want nine starters . . .we want 24 starters. This weekend that really showed!"
Offensively, the Bucs hit for an average of .505. They had 53 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, and six homeruns. There were a total of 41 RBIs, 49 runs scored, 18 walks, two strikeouts, and 14 stolen bases.
Freshman pitcher, Jenna Lloyd, threw a one hitter in the 10-0 game.
Maci "Jojo" Sparks received player of the week for her first time as a freshman. Between the two games on Sunday, she hit a single, a double, a triple, and a homerun. For the series, her average was .778 with seven hits, four RBIs, seven runs, and two stolen bases.
"Jojo is a perfect example of hard work paying off, "Coach Huff said, "all year she has seen some time, mainly as a base runner, but overtime she has proven herself to be very reliable in some big situations. Her consistent effort and attitude towards her role has cracked her into the starting lineup and now receiving player of the week!"
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to play Williston State this weekend. Times and specific dates are still up in the air as they are watching the weather right now. An update will be posted on social media and the Bucs Softball website as soon as a decision is made.
