Softball Wins Region XIII Title for the Fourth Straight Year in a Row
It was a great week in Minnesota for your Lady Bucs! There was no doubt that the Bucs showed up to play! After having played four games last Monday and Tuesday against WSC to finish out Conference play, the team hopped on the bus and hit the road for a 10 hour drive with tournament play starting Thursday.
Being the first seed, the Bucs played the winner of the #4 (WSC) vs #5 (LRSC) on Thursday night. It was Lake Region that they played in the first round. In just five innings, the score for your Lady Bucs ended up being 12-0. This sent the Bucs into Friday, playing Dakota County Tech. In yet another five inning game, the Bucs took care of business and defeated DCTC 14-3. With this win, softball headed straight to the championship game where they faced off with Miles Community College. MCC would've had to have beaten DCC twice to clinch the victory, but your Bucs took care of business and won in walk off fashion, as they had twice against MCC previously this year. The final score was 5-4 and yet another championship plaque to bring home!
This is the fourth year in a row that the Lady Bucs softball team has been Region XIII Champions. A true testament to the long lasting legacy that was built before and one that continues on.
Head Coach Casey-May Huff had this to say, "It was a really fun week with the team! Allie Anderson only had to throw a total of 17 innings the whole tournament, which really helped give us an advantage . . . she was able to stay pretty fresh. This team faced a lot of adversity this year, but the ones who saw it through definitely earned this and I couldn't be more happy for them!"
The Lady Bucs will be the host for the 2026 Northwest Plains B District Championship. This will take place this Friday, May 8th, at 1:00PM and 3:00PM MST. It's looking like it's going to be a great day for some softball! Come out and support your Lady Bucs as they face a team from Iowa. Go Bucs!
