Dawson Signs Browning’s Shayde St. Goddard for Men’s Basketball
6'8 forward Shayde St. Goddard signed with the Dawson Buccaneers Basketball program. This past year at Browning High School in Montana, St. Goddard averaged 8.7 points, 9.9 rebounds, 4.2 blocks, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 48% from the field. He led all of Class A in blocked shots and rebounds. Browning finished 11-7 overall and 8-4 in conference. He was a team captain and named the team MVP. St. Goddard was also selected 1st Team All-Conference.
"We are excited to get Shayde," shared Dawson Coach Joe Peterson. "When I watched him as a junior he was blocking shots and rebounding like crazy. Without even scoring, he was impacting the game in a big time way. He is a high character guy who will work hard on the court and do whatever you ask of him and he takes care of his business in the classroom. I think he has the tools to help us right away next year, but also has a lot of room for growth."
As a junior, St. Goddard led his team to a 2nd place finish at divisionals and qualified for the state tournament. They finished with a 13-5 overall record and were 10-2 in conference. He was 2nd in the state in blocked shots at 1.9 blocks per game.
St. Goddard explained his decision, "I chose Dawson because of their excellent program that is built around their student-athletes. It is the perfect fit for me and full of amazing opportunities. I'm excited to play basketball there more than anything as it's a new chapter in my life. I am truly grateful that Dawson has chosen me, and that I have chosen them."
