Buccaneer Basketball Hosting Red-Black Scrimmage Sunday
The Dawson Men's Basketball Intrasquad scrimmage has been moved to Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm. Buccaneer fans will get their first chance to see the Buccaneers. The Bucs will be hosting their annual Red-Black scrimmage at the Toepke Center. Admission is free. The festivities will start with a 3 point contest, pitting the best sharp-shooters against each other in an epic showdown. Following the 3 point contest, the Bucs will take the court for a 40 minute intra-squad scrimmage. At half-time of the game, the high flying Bucs will take to the air to perform their best aerial acrobatics in a slam dunk contest. After the game, any fans who purchase a $5 raffle ticket will get a chance to shoot a half-court shot and win half the pot.
The Bucs are coming off an historic 29-4 season in which they won the Tip Off Championship, Mon-Dak Conference Championship and Region XIII Championship. Their season ended with a four point loss to the #4 ranked Indian Hills Community College in the District Championship Game. Sophomores Brandon Hymes, Ade Onaleye, Matt Kinzeler, Aries Lewis, Troy Hugs and Delray Lilley will be leading the way with an exciting group of new players joining them.
The regular season will begin with the Mon-Dak Conference Tip-off Tournament at 4 Bears Casino in New Town, ND October 31 through November 2. It is a one of a kind tournament with all 8 men's teams and all 8 women's teams from the conference. Each team is guaranteed a game in each of the 3 days with the championship games being played on Sunday afternoon. The Events Center is an NBA style arena that is great place to watch a game. Their first home games will be on Thursday, November 6th vs. Northwest College and Friday, November 7th vs. Eastern Wyoming College.
