Dawson Bucs Earn All-Conference Awards
The Mon-Dak Conference released their All-Conference Awards for Men's Basketball this week. Buccaneers Brandon Hymes and Kai Guess both earned 1st team selections.
Hymes is a 6'3 sophomore from El Paso, Texas. He is currently averaging 12.9 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.2 apg and 2.1 spg while shooting 50.5% from the field, 40.3% from the three-point line and nearly 70% from the free throw line. He leads Dawson in assists and steals and is second in scoring and rebounding. In Hymes two years at Dawson he has helped the Buccaneers win 53 games as well as two tip-off championships, two regular season titles and two region tournaments.
Guess is a 6'2 guard from San Antonio, Texas. He is currently averaging a team leading 13.1 ppg and 14.4 ppg in conference while shooting 52.8% from the field and 42.5% from the three-point line. He surpassed 20 points six times this year and his season high was 28 points on the road at Gillette College where he shot 10-13 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line.
Dawson Coach Joe Peterson was named the Mon-Dak Conference Coach of the Year. It was the 4th time he has had that honor.
The Bucs are 24-8 on the season and headed to Iowa to play in the North Central District Championship Game on Saturday night at 7:00 pm CST against Indian Hills Community College. The winner will get an automatic bid to the NJCAA D1 National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.
