Softball Win Two on the Road Against Northeastern
First Game:
Dawson Clinches Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Northeastern Junior College
Dawson Community College Softball defeated Northeastern Junior College 6-4 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four in the top of the sixth when Maycen O'Neal homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. Lady Bucs took an early lead in the second inning. Shenandoah Jackson drove in two when Jackson homered. Northeastern knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Abby Harpmandrew a walk, scoring one run. Dawson scored four runs in the second inning. Riley Arnold and Jackson all drove in runs in the frame. Shelby Martin earned the win for Dawson Community College. Martin surrendered four runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out eight.
Stacy Bott took the loss for Northeastern Junior College. Bott went six innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one. Lady Buccaneers hit three home runs. Maycen O'Neal had a four bagger in the sixth inning. Shenan Jackson had a long ball in the second inning. Riley Arnold went yard in the second inning. Dawson tallied nine hits. O'Neal, Martin, and Arnold each managed multiple hits for Dawson. Arnold, Martin, and O'Neal each collected two hits to lead the Lady Buccaneers.
Bott led Northeastern with two hits in three at bats.
Assistant Coach Tami Lagmay commented, “It was a great overall team win from the first pitch of the game to the last pitch. We executed during crucial parts offensively and in the circle to have a positive outcome."
