Softball Win Two on the Road Against Northeastern

First Game:

Dawson Clinches Lead In Sixth Inning For Victory Over Northeastern Junior College

Dawson Community College Softball defeated Northeastern Junior College 6-4 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four in the top of the sixth when Maycen O'Neal homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. Lady Bucs took an early lead in the second inning. Shenandoah Jackson drove in two when Jackson homered. Northeastern knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Abby Harpmandrew a walk, scoring one run. Dawson scored four runs in the second inning. Riley Arnold and Jackson all drove in runs in the frame. Shelby Martin earned the win for Dawson Community College. Martin surrendered four runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out eight.

Stacy Bott took the loss for Northeastern Junior College. Bott went six innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one. Lady Buccaneers hit three home runs. Maycen O'Neal had a four bagger in the sixth inning. Shenan Jackson had a long ball in the second inning. Riley Arnold went yard in the second inning. Dawson tallied nine hits. O'Neal, Martin, and Arnold each managed multiple hits for Dawson. Arnold, Martin, and O'Neal each collected two hits to lead the Lady Buccaneers.

Bott led Northeastern with two hits in three at bats.

Assistant Coach Tami Lagmay commented, “It was a great overall team win from the first pitch of the game to the last pitch. We executed during crucial parts offensively and in the circle to have a positive outcome."

Second Game:

Lady Buccaneers Claims Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Northeastern

Dawson stole the lead late and defeated Northeastern Junior College 10-8 on Friday. Dawson trailed 8-7 in the top of the seventh inning when Maycen O'Neal singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. Northeastern scored five runs in the sixth inning, but Dawson still managed to pull out the victory. The offensive firepower by Northeastern was led by Abby Harpman, Maddy Rule, and Katey Kelly, all driving in runs in the inning.

In the first inning, Lady Buccaneers got their offense started. Dawson scored one run when Raquel McAuliffe singled. Deven Creech got the win for Dawson Community College. Creech surrendered four runs on three hits over two innings, striking out three. Harpman took the loss for Northeastern Junior College. The bulldog surrendered nine runs on 14 hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking zero. Alexa Kappel started the game for Dawson. The righty lasted five innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out eight. Emily Curtis had a dinger in the seventh inning. Lady Buccaneers collected 14 hits on the day. Maycen O'Neal, Fallyn Marshall, Alissa West, and Shelby Martin each managed multiple hits for the Lady Bucs. Marshall and O'Neal each managed three hits to lead Dawson.

Northeastern tallied nine hits. Stacy Bottand Harpman all managed multiple hits for Northeastern.

Coach Lagmay commented, “It was great to see the team handle adversity with confidence and determination. We performed in the big moments at the end of the game to take the win."
