Dawson Community College Softball Claims Blow-Out Victory Over Dakota College at Bottineau, 10-2
Dawson Community College Softball had no trouble on offense today, winning big over Dakota College at Bottineau 10-2. Dawson got on the board in the first inning when Riley Arnold singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. The Lady Buccaneers notched five runs in the second inning. Dawson’s big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by Alissa West and Emily Curtis, a single by Alexa Kappel, and by Arnold. Shelby Martin was the winning pitcher for Dawson. The righty went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out five.
Randee Charlo took the loss for Dakota College. Carlo allowed six hits and nine runs over four innings, striking out five.
Dawson scattered six hits in the game. Kappel and Martin each had multiple hits for the Lady Bucs. Martin and Kappel each collected two hits to lead Dawson. The Lady Bucs didn't commit a single error in the field. Madison Davis had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

Lady Bucs Softball Claims Blow-Out Victory over Dakota College, 13-4
Lady Buccaneers softball easily dispatched Dakota College 13-4 on Friday. The Lady Lumberjacks got things moving in the first inning. Brittney Villalobos drew a walk, scoring one run.
Dawson pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second, Deven Creech drew a walk, scoring one run and Laci Leishman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. The Lady Buccaneers notched six runs in the fifth inning. Shelby Martin, Laci Leishman, and Emily Curtis powered the big inning with RBIs. Creech was credited with the victory for DCC. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out six.
Megan Davidson took the loss for the Lady Lumberjacks. Davidson lasted one and one-third innings, allowing five hits and five runs. Villalobos started the game for Dakota College. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and striking out one.
Dawson scattered 17 hits in the game. Maycen O'Neal, Ashlynne Copinga, Raquel McAuliffe, Martin, and Laci Leishman each racked up multiple hits for the Lady Buccaneers. Copinga and O'Neal each collected three hits to lead Dawson.
Coach LeProwse said, “I am really pleased with the way Deven Creech has been pitching. She has been limiting the opposing team’s opportunities and making it very difficult for them to score runs. Dawson Community College Softball Clinches Lead in Fifth Inning for Victory Over Dakota College
DCC softball took the lead late and defeated Dakota College 8-3 on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Dawson batting in the bottom of the fifth when Maycen O'Neal hit a solo homer. The Lady Buccaneers put up three runs in the sixth inning. The offensive firepower by Dawson was led by Shelby Martin and Skyler Meagher, who each had RBIs in the inning. Alexa Kappel led the Lady Bucs to victory in the circle. The right-hander allowed three hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five. Deven Creech threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Randee Charlo took the loss for Dakota College at Bottineau. Charlo allowed ten hits and eight runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Brittney Villalobos started the game for Dakota. The bulldog lasted one-third of an inning, allowing zero hits and zero runs while walking zero.
Dawson tallied two home runs on the day. O'Neal went for the long ball in the fifth inning. Martin put one out in the sixth inning. Lady Buccaneers racked up 12 hits. Laci Leishman, Ashlynne Copinga, Skylar Meagher, and Alissa West each racked up multiple hits for Dawson Softball. West, Meagher, Copinga, and Leishman all had two hits to lead DCC.
Isabel Rodriguez led Dakota College with two hits in four at bats.
Coach LeProwse stated, “We hit the ball better that our stats say in this one. We hit a lot of hard balls right at defenders and DCB did a great job of making plays on them. This could have easily been a 10 plus hit game for us also, but we are happy with a five run victory.”

Shelby Martin Drives in Five as Dawson Softball Defeats Dakota College for 4th Time
Shelby Martin would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Saturday, driving in five on two hits to lead Dawson Community College Softball past Dakota College at Bottineau 18-5 on Saturday. Martin drove in runs on a home run in the first and a home run in the third. Dawson grabbed an early lead. The Lady Buccaneers scored on a triple by Alissa West, a single by Riley Arnold, a home run by Raquel McAuliffe, a single by Ashlynne Copinga, an error, and a home run by Shelby Martin in the first inning.
After DCB scored one run in the top of the second, Lady Bucs answered with one of their own. Dakota College at Bottineau scored when an error scored one run for Dakota College at Bottineau.
Dawson then answered when Laci Leishman singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Tia Washington led the red and black to victory on the rubber. Washington surrendered five runs on 12 hits over four innings, striking out three and walking zero. Deven Creech threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Alezandria Guariglia took the loss for Dakota. The pitcher lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs.
Megan Davidson started the game for DCB. Davidson lasted one-third of an inning, allowing five hits and seven runs. Dawson socked three home runs on the day. McAuliffe had a homer in the first inning. Martin went deep in the first and third innings. The Lady Buccaneers saw the ball well today, racking up 17 hits in the game. McAuliffe, Washington, Martin, and West each racked up multiple hits for Dawson. Washington and McAuliffe each collected three hits to lead Dawson.
Dakota College tallied 14 hits. McKenzie Bales, Isabel Rodriguez, and Guariglia each collected multiple hits for the Lady Lumberjacks.
Coach LeProwse commented, “This was a great weekend of softball for us. We had 52 hits in the four games and I am really pleased with that. Early in the series we left quite a few runners on base, but we definitely cleaned that up in the last game. If we keep progressing like we are, we should be tough to beat in May.”
