DCC Signs Lustre Christian Standout
The DCC Buccaneer basketball team announced their first signing for the 2022-2023 season. Lustre Christian standout Kolden Holversland inked his NJCAA National Letter of Intent for Dawson on Wednesday. The first official signing day for the NJCAA was November 1st and Holversland signed on the 3rd day.
Bucs Coach Joe Peterson praised the new signee, “Kolden is a first class young man with a great upside! His work ethic, basketball IQ and athleticism will be a great addition to our program. I’ve seen his growth just in the past year that I’ve gotten to know him. I think he was a little overlooked because of where he lives and goes to school, but I have no doubt Kolden will be a really good college basketball player.”
The 6’3 165 lb guard with a 33 inch standing vertical has been playing varsity since 8th grade. He is a two time All-Conference and two time All-State selection. He has helped Lustre Christian to top four finishes at the District Tournament the past three seasons and they have reached the Divisional Tournament twice in that time. Last year as a junior, Holversland averaged 16.0 points, 2.8 assists, 8.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and 2.3 steals per game; leading his team in all 5 categories. He shot 49.4% from the field, 30% from the 3-point line and 61% from the free throw line.
Lustre Christian Coach Randy Reddig remarked, “Kolden has been a great student-athlete for our program since he came in his 8th grade year. He has developed into a leader not only on the court, but even more so in the offseason with workouts and getting teammates in the gym. His work ethic is incredible and it shows throughout his life. He will be missed in our program, but I am very excited for him and his opportunity at Dawson. Coach Peterson has a top notch program that plays fast and aggressive. I believe Kolden fits perfectly into this style and he will thrive at Dawson with the continued development of Coach Peterson. Go Lions & Go Bucs!”
Holversland also commented on his signing, “The environment at Dawson feels like home. I feel like there’s no better program to help me achieve my future goals than DCC.”
The new signee will begin his senior season of basketball in December while the Bucs began their season on Monday with a 110-59 win over Rocky Mountain College JV. The Bucs continue in action in the Buster Gillis Mon-Dak Tip-off Tournament in New Town, ND on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
