Joe Mpoyo Player of the Week
The Mon-Dak Conference men’s basketball player of the week is Joe Mpoyo, a 6'4" sophomore guard from Dawson Community College. The Buccaneers won their only game of the week as they came from behind to beat Northwest College on the road 65-62. Joe scored 17 points, all in the second half, to lead Dawson’s comeback. He made all four of his 3-point attempts and all five of his shots from the field in the second half. He also had 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in the game. Joe is from the Democratic Republic of Congo and attended Meridian High School in Idaho.
Halfway through the season, Joe is averaging 18 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 46% from the field, 39% on 3's and 85% from the charity stripe. He has scored in double digits in 12 of their 15 games so far. This is the second time he has been honored as the conference player of the week.
The Bucs are off for Christmas and will return to action at home vs. Northwest College on January 6th at 4:00 pm.
