Buccaneer Men Qualify for Nationals; Haslem Adds Second Individual Qualifier for Dawson
The Dawson Community College men's cross country team secured its spot at the NJCAA National Championships after an impressive performance in Billings on Friday, finishing 7th out of 15 teams. Three Buccaneers set new personal bests on the 8K course — Aydin Jackson (26:51), Ezekiel Wallace (29:53), and Leandro Old Coyote (30:38) — joining Joshua Eckhart (28:08) to give the Bucs three sub-30 runners. Koban Yellowrobe (31:50) rounds out the five-man starting lineup. The team's average time of 29:34 positions them within striking distance of a Top 25 national ranking.
"These guys have worked hard all season, and this result shows how far they've come," said head coach Dempster Jackson. "To have multiple sub-30 performances and qualify as a team is a major milestone for our program."
On the women's side, there were no team results, but Clara Haslem officially qualified for the National Championships. She joins Victoria Takes Enemy as the women's individual qualifiers for Dawson.
The Buccaneers will host a competition in Glendive at the Cottonwood Country Club, October 24th before traveling to Fort Dodge, IA to compete at the NJCAA Division II National Championships, November 8th.
