Buccaneer Cross Country Records First-Ever Team Scoring at University of Montana Invitational
The Dawson Community College Buccaneer Cross Country program achieved a historic milestone last weekend at the University of Montana Invitational, as both the men's and women's teams fielded full scoring squads for the first time in program history.
The men's team, led by Joshua Eckhart, placed 8th overall in the highly competitive meet. Eckhart paced the Bucs with a strong performance, anchoring a young squad that continues to show rapid progress.
The women's team, led by Victoria Takes Enemy, also finished 8th overall, marking another first for the Buccaneer program as it continues to expand its roster and depth.
Head Coach Dempster Jackson praised the progress:
"As our numbers increase with each season, I expect increasingly better team results. This is a big step forward for Buccaneer Cross Country."
The Buccaneers also celebrated early qualifications for the NJCAA National Championships, with Aydin Jackson, Joshua Eckhart, and Victoria Takes Enemy securing their spots.
Looking ahead, the Bucs will compete at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open in Billings on October 10, where they aim to qualify full teams for Nationals.
