Bucs Use Balanced Attack for Convincing Win
The Dawson Community College Buccaneers led from start to finish and cruise to a 132-38 victory over Little Big Horn College at the Toepke Center on the campus of DCC. The Bucs started the game on a 16-0 run and kept their foot on the throttle up until the end of the game. In the first half, they forced 24 turnovers and outrebounded the Rams 30-10 to build a 69-22 half-time advantage. The second half looked pretty similar to the first half. Dawson scored 63 points off of 42 turnovers and had an advantage of 39 rebounds over the visitors. The Bucs outscored Little Big Horn by 47 points in each half.
Bucs Coach Joe Peterson commented, “Little Big Horn is having some challenges and I give their coach and players credit for coming out and competing so hard. I was proud of our guys for giving an effort for the full thirty minutes. No matter who we play, we are always trying to get better and develop some consistency and I think we did that tonight.”
It was a balanced effort for Dawson with all twelve players playing at least 10 minutes and everyone getting in the scoring column. Their bench outscored the Rams 61-0. Marcus Stephens led the charge with 21 points, 8 assists and 6 steals while Cam'ron Dunfee had 19 points as well as 4 assists and 4 steals. Beau Santistevan recorded a double double with 10 points and 17 rebounds. Devin Collins also had a solid all-around game with 7 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Little Big Horn was led by Waddy Left Hand with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Tristan Little White Man was also in double figures with 10 points and 4 assists.
Dawson will continue their homestand with a game against the Rocky Mountain College JV team on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm and then another game vs. Stone Child College on Friday, December 14th at noon.
