The Bucs Split Series with Bismarck
The Bucs faced off against Bismarck State College in their second conference series of the year. They would kick off the series at home for the first two games. Game 1 Ben Reinker took the mound. Reinker went 6 innings giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits and struck out 6 batters. Jace Jarrett would come in to close out the game, going 1 inning allowing no runs, 1 hit and 2 strike outs. The Bucs offense stayed busy tallying 9 runs on 11 hits. Jarrett, Phillips, Hjermstad and Reisdorfer had 2 hits each as Salaverria, Korte,and proffitt would have 1 hit each. Reisdorfer and Phillips led with 3 RBI's each. Reisdorfer would drive in Korte and Bever on a single in the first and would drive in Korte again in the second. Phillips drove in his runs on the long ball. Phillips went deep in the bottom of the second on a 3 run shot to left. Jarrett drove in 2 runs on a double in third. Hjermstad collected 1 RBI on a single to score Phillips in the first. The Bucs started off the series hot winning game 1 final score 9-4.
Game 2 the almighty dangerous Canadian right hander Adam Korte would start game 2 on the hill. Korte pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and sat down 5 on strikeouts. The offense was able to string together 4 hits and score 5 runs. Phillips, Daniel Bell, Proffitt and Caden Fox all had 1 hit. Dom Phillips started the scoring with a home run to left. Caden Fox had the other RBI as he scored D'shandre Turner on a sac fly. 3 runs would score on a passed ball in the sixth. Joel Bever would come in to pitch and hold things down in the seventh. Bever allowed 1 earned run on 1 hit and would strike out the final batter to secure the W for the Bucs in game 2 final score 5-4.
On Sunday the Bucs went to Bismarck for the remaining 2 games. Ethan Reisdorfer started the third game going 2 innings allowing 8 runs on 8 hits while striking out 2. Patrick Reno would follow on the hill going 4 innings no runs and no hits with 1 strike out. The Bucs offense only plated 2 runs on 5 hits. Salaverria, Phillips, Hjermstad, Reisdorfer and Proffitt tallied 1 hit. Patrick Reno would deliver the 1 RBI on a sac fly to center that would score Brock Clonce. The other run would come on a passed ball as Reisdorfer scored in fourth. The Bucs were unable to get things going in game 3 as they would fall 8-2
Game 4 started with another Canadian in Zaydin Nyuli on the hill. Nyuli was able to go 6 innings allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits and striking out 4. Nick Proffitt led the offense with 2 hits as Jarrett, Phillips, Korte and Fox would each tally 1 hit. The Bucs were unable to bring anyone across in the final game as they fell 4-0.
The Bucs finished 2-2 against Bismarck, improving to 13-22 on the year. The Bucs are back in action Wednesday April 9th at home against the Miles City Pioneers, 1 and 3pm MDT.
