Lady Buccaneers Win Two in a Row
For the sixth set of back to back games this season, the Lady Buccaneers of Dawson Community College finally got a sweep, instead of splitting like they had the previous five times. This time at home, DCC was able to defeat Little Big Horn College and Rocky Mountain College JV.
On Saturday, the visiting Lady Rams of Little Big Horn College had a difficult time trying to upset a .500 ball club in Dawson. Dawson’s largest lead of the game was by 58 points, and they won the game 105-49. The Lady Bucs shot great with 13 of 14 players scoring. The team shot 54% from the field and 40% from the 3-point line. DCC had 25 steals and converted 27 points out of it. The biggest contribution came from the bench with 64 points leading to the easy victory.
Centoria Roberts led the team with 16 points. Alexius Foster had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Tasia Moore also had 15 points, along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Ejanae Coopwood would tally 14 points and 4 rebounds. Sarah Miranda chipped in with 10 points. Chynna Torrence was the only player who didn’t score, but she led the game with 11 rebounds.
Sunday afternoon would be a bit more challenging as the Rocky Mountain College JV Battlin’ Bears contested the Lady Bucs in every quarter despite losing in each.
The Lady Bucs forced Rocky into 28 turnovers, converting 20 points from it. They also outrebounded them 40-36. Dawson only had 13 turnovers for the game, and the bench contributed a solid 17 points.
Kitawna Little Light scored a game high 24 points along with 4 rebounds and a career and game high 6 assists. Alexius Foster scored 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Ejanae Coopwood recorded a double double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.
A pleased Dawson Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. said, “It was good to finally be at home and play on our turf. We’re back in the winning column, and it’s needed to boost our team self-esteem. Having all of our players contribute to these wins will hopefully help us come conference time when everyone needs to be on their A-game.”
