Six Buccaneers named to the All Region XIII Team
After a successful winning season, six Dawson Community College softball players were named to the 2023 NJCAA DII All Region XIII Team: Bailey Hansen, Tyra Coats, Breana Hiatt, Brogan Allen, Faith McDonald, and Heather Berrett.
Bailey Hansen was a first baseman from Riverton, Utah. She batted .481 with an OPS of 1.260 and a slugging percentage of .763. The Sophomore Drove in 53 runs and hit 8 home runs in 41 games this season.
Tyra Coats was a centerfielder from Plain City, Utah. Tyra batted .429 with an OPS of 1.277 and a slugging percentage of .789. Tyra batted in 44 runs and hit 10 home runs on the year.
Breana Hiatt was the catcher from Grantsville, Utah. She batted .385 with an OPS of 1.211 and her slugging percentage was .736. She drove in 42 runs and hit 10 home runs.
The 3rd baseman from Cheyenne Wyoming, Brogan Allen, batted .468 with an OPS of 1.540 and a slugging percentage of 1.016. Brogan drove in 52 runs and hit 19 home runs on the season.
Faith McDonald was the Designated Player for Dawson. She is from Loving, New Mexico. Faith batted .366 with an OPS of 1.090 and a slugging percentage of .714. She drove in 37 runs and hit 9 home runs.
Heather Berrett the right handed pitcher had a great record with 19 wins and 2 losses. Her ERA was 2.19 with 176 strikeouts.
Coach Lagmay stated, "I'm proud to see that all the hard work paid off this year. The grind and adversity was challenging, but these girls continue to push themselves and their teammates and showed nothing but greatness."
