DCC Softball Wins Game One of Region Tournament
It was a great day for some Buccaneer softball!
DCC fired up the offense in the first inning against Williston State College when Tyra Coats hit a solo homer. In the third, Bailey Hansen homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. To follow, Payten Staley hit a solo homer. This allowed the Bucs to pull away for good as they entered into the fourth inning. The rally was led by a sacrifice fly by Brogan Allen and a grand slam by Sofee Thatcher. DCC put up six runs in the fourth inning.
Heather Berrett was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bucs. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out nine and walking one.
Overall, Dawson softball socked four home runs on the day. Staley, Thatcher, Hansen and Coats all went deep in the game. This contributed to Dawson having ten hits in the game. Staley, Thatcher, Coats, and Faith McDonald each had multiple hits for DCC.
Head softball coach Tami Lagmay had this to say, "It was a great day for some Buccaneer softball. We are getting to play the tournament at home, the weather was perfect, and we had a lot of community support out today. We couldn't ask for much better."
Your Lady Bucs will be back in action at home tomorrow Friday, May 5th, at 2PM versus Miles Community College.
