DCC Softball Wins Two More Games at Home
In game one, Payten Staley would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base, driving in six on two hits to lead Dawson Community College past Lake Region State College. The overall score ended up 13-7. Staley drove in runs on a grand slam in the first, a home run in the fifth, and a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
The Lady Bucs earned the victory despite allowing LRSC to score six runs in the third inning. In the bottom of the inning, Lake Region tied things up at seven when Main homered on a 3-2 count, scoring three runs off Alison Eldridge.
That wasn't enough to stop the Bucs as they pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Bailey Hansen singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Faith McDonald started the game on the mound surrendering four runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero. Alison Eldridge then came in and took the win for DCC, allowing five hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, and striking out five.
The Buccaneers tallied three home runs on the day, both Staley and McDonald went for the long ball in the first and fifth innings.
Overall, the Lady Bucs tallied 12 hits. Staley, Hansen, Tyra Coats, and McDonald each managed two hits for DCC.
In game two, DCC had no trouble on offense, winning big over Lake Region 7-1.
Heather Berrett led things off in the circle, allowing only four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out 13.
Offensively, the girls got things moving in the first inning, when a sacrifice bunt by Breana Hiatt scored one run. The Buccaneers then notched three runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by DCC was led by Jillian Johnson, Tyra Coats, and Hiatt, all driving in runs in the frame. Brogan Allen followed suit and homered in the third. Bailey Hansen went 3-for-3 at the plate, leading Dawson to their victory.
"Overall, the girls stayed on a mission and got the job done, finishing the day with two wins," stated head softball coach Tami Lagmay, "I know the girls were tired and sore from already playing Saturday and Sunday, so it was nice to see them finish off the three-day series well."
Your Lady Bucs will be back in action on Thursday, April 27th, at 12PM and 2PM versus Bismarck State College right here in Glendive.
