Lady Bucs Take Two from Lake Region
In game one, Dawson Community College Softball defeated Lake Region State College 6-3 on Sunday.
LRSC got things moving in the first inning when they scored two runs right away.
Heather Berrett got the win for DCC, only surrendering three runs on six hits over seven innings, and striking out six.
With a bit of a slower start and the LRSC pitcher holding them down, the Lady Bucs ended up collecting ten hits for the first game. Payten Staley and Bailey Hansen each had two hits for DCC.
In game two, DCC came out with a bit of a chip on their shoulders.
The Buccaneers got things started in the first inning when a sacrifice bunt by Breana Hiatt scored two runs. Following that, they scored six runs in the fourth inning. Brogan Allen, Jillian Johnson, Hiatt, and Bailey Hansen each had RBIs in the big inning.
Faith McDonald took the win in the circle. The righty allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out one and walking zero. Alison Eldridge threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
The Lady Bucs smacked four home runs on the day. Johnson had a long ball in the fourth inning. Allen went yard in the third and fourth innings. McDonald had a four bagger in the first inning.
Overall, the Buccaneers saw the ball well today, racking up 16 hits in the game. Mckenzie Harbison, Hansen, Allen, Tyra Coats, Johnson, and McDonald all had multiple hits for Dawson Community College Softball. Harbison went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead DCC.
Head softball coach Tami Lagmay stated, "We came out a little flat today. The girls have to remember that anybody can beat anybody on any given day. It is important that we don't take anyone lightly as Lake Region's pitcher did a really good job with our offense. The second game looked more like Buccaneer softball, which was nice to see right out the gate."
Dawson softball will be back in action this weekend for three straight games at home. The first series will be on Friday, April 21st, versus Lake Region State College at 12PM & 2PM.
