Lady Bucs Show Outstanding Performance Against Bismarck
In game one, Dawson Community College Softball defeated Bismarck State College 12-0 on Friday. They opened up scoring in the first inning, Breana Hiatt drove in two when the catcher homered.
The Buccaneers notched six runs in the fourth inning. Mckenzie Harbison, Brogan Allen, Payten Staley, Faith Mcdonald, and Sofee Thatcher all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Heather Berrett led things off in the pitcher's circle for DCC. The righty went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out seven and walking one.
Overall, DCC tallied five home runs in the first game. Thatcher had a homer in the fourth inning, Harbison put one out in the second and fourth inning, and Hiatt went yard in the first and second inning.
This made for a tally of 13 hits in the game. Harbison, Staley, Bailey Hansen, and Hiatt all collected multiple hits for Dawson Community College Softball. Harbison led the Lady Bucs with three hits in three at bats.
In the second game, Brogan Allen had a great day at the plate, smacking four hits in DCC's 29-3 victory over BSC. Allen singled in the first, singled in the second, homered in the second, and singled in the third.
She wasn't the only one, DCC fired up the offense in the first inning, when Breana Hiatt homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. This made for her third homerun on the day.
Alison Eldridge toed the rubber for the Lady Bucs for the first time since her surgery in December. Eldridge lasted five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out one.
The Buccaneers hit six home runs on the day. Allen had a dinger in the second inning, Rebecca Laire went for the long ball in the third and fifth inning, Hiatt had two - four baggers in the first inning, and Tyra Coats went yard in the second inning.
Dawson collected 27 hits overall for game two. Payten Staley, Allen, Bailey Hansen, Brooke Lijewski, Bradie Strang, Hiatt, and Laire each racked up multiple hits for the Buccaneers. Allen and Staley each managed four hits in the game.
Head Softball Coach, Tami Lagmay had this to say about the day, "We came out today and put up impressive numbers at the plate with 11 home runs. Our mission daily is to continue to work on the little things that win big games. We stay hungry every single day, we put in the work, all with the goal of seeing success on the diamond."
