Dawson’s Buckmon Named Tournament MVP and Conference Player of the Week

After three strong games at the Buster Gillis Mon-Dak Conference Tip-off Tournament, Dawson's Ty Buckmon was selected as the Tournament MVP and Conference Player of the Week. Buckmon scored 20 points vs. Lake Region, 24 points vs. Dakota College and 26 points vs. North Dakota State College of Science. He made 50% from the 3 point line (11-22) and 86% from the free throw line (19-22) while averaging 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.3 steals in 26 minutes per game.

Buckmon is a sophomore from College Park High School in Woodlands, TX. The Bucs took home the championship by beating Lake Region 102-69, Dakota College 105-72 and NDSCS 87-81. In the three games Dawson shot 50% from the field and 38% from the 3-point line while outrebounding their opponents 112-93 and forcing 31 more turnovers than they committed themselves (61-30). They are averaging 98 points per game.

The Dawson basketball teams travel to Central Wyoming College this weekend to participate in a tournament. Their first home game will be Saturday, November 18th at 4:00 and 6:00 pm.
