Buccaneer Athletic Department Sets Record For Grade Point Average
The Dawson Community College Athletic Department announced the achievements and success of their student-athletes in the classroom during the 2024-2025 school year. For the third straight year, Buccaneer Athletics set a school record with a department Grade Point Average of 3.34. Fifty-four student athletes graduated earlier this month.
"These student-athletes and coaches really put in the time and effort each and every day and place a great emphasis on their academic pursuits," shared Dawson Athletic Director Joe Peterson. "Along with the help of their instructors and tutors who are willing to go the extra mile, we are reaching new heights every year. One of the best parts of my job is seeing our teams win championships and watching the individual athletes reach their potential in their sport, while also observing them make the most of their opportunity to earn a quality education and continue to pursue their goals in life."
From a total of 156 student-athletes, 122 Buccaneers finished the year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with 64 earning over a 3.6 gpa and 11 individuals earning a perfect 4.0 gpa.
