Lady Bucs Basketball Adds Guard from France

DCC Women’s Basketball has added Cheryl Aubou from France to the 2019-2020 roster.  Cheryl is a 5’8 guard who was highly referred by a California-based AAU program located in Moreno Valley, CA.

Head Coach Kevin Fuller of the AAU West Coast Warriors ball club recommended Cheryl after coaching her during the AAU circuit and watching her as she played for Bloomington Christian High School in Bloomington, CA.  Due to an injury, Cheryl did not complete her basketball season at Bloomington, but later went on to continue her career with the Warriors.  During AAU competition, she averaged 14 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 5 steals in 2018.  Before arriving to the United States, Cheryl was attending high school in France, and was playing for an elite travel team called Marne La-Vallee, where she averaged 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 4 steals.

Coach Fuller praised Cheryl on her signing, “Chery is a very good 3-point shooter and very strong defender.  But her greatest character trait is that she plays very well under pressure.  I am so excited for her joining Dawson Community College and for Coach Romeo continuing to work with and guide her so that she can reach her full potential, which is greatness!

Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. is very pleased with his French signee. “Assistant Coach Paige Wright and I really liked her game play and individual workouts.  She plays hard, hustles tough, can shoot the ball well from deep, and can handle the ball solid.  What we really like is that she has a never-give-up attitude and hates to lose.  With that mentality, we’re hoping that can be seriously contagious to the rest of the team.”

Cheryl was super excited about joining the Lady Bucs. “Signing with Dawson is a big opportunity for me.  I wanted to link up with new people.  This is a big step for me, and I want to make my parents, family and friends proud of this big moment, as they are all happy for me in my decision in choosing Dawson.  I want to be able to apply my skills and work hard for the colors and logo of Dawson.  Attending Dawson will allow me to have a better chance of moving on to a bigger level of basketball at the university division.  The school is really ideal!  Housing, school, and sports allows for everyone to be close to one another, allowing all of us to share and learn each other’s culture.”
