New Volleyball Coach Dina Fritz Signs 5 Players

Dawson Community College has their first signees of the newly reinstated volleyball program.  Coach Fritz has been busy on the recruiting trail and has this to say about the five signees, “I feel very lucky and grateful that I have found these five young women to join our team.  All five have shown leadership on their teams and I am excited to have them at DCC in the fall.  Each of them has all excelled on the court and in the classroom and are all well rounded athletes.” 

Cierra Loudon is a 5’ 8” outside hitter from Circle, MT.  She lettered all four years of high school and was a three-year starter.  During those years she was part of a team that placed 3rd, 1st, and 4th at the Class C State Tournament.  She was All-conference and All-state her junior and senior years, as well as a team captain her senior year.  Loudon also received All-Conference and All-State in basketball and qualified for the state track meet all four years.  Her senior year she was Circle High School’s Female Athlete of the year.  Loudon had this to say about playing at DCC, “I am super excited to see what the season will bring.  It’s rare that your high school coach is your college coach.  So I am looking forward to it.  I know DCC will be a great place to start.”

Erin Campbell is a 5’ 6” outside/defensive specialist from Absarokee, MT.  She lettered all four years of high school in volleyball and softball.  She received Academic All-State her senior year in volleyball and Academic All-State her freshman year in softball.  She was also 1st Team All-Conference her senior year and 2nd Team All-Conference her junior year for volleyball.  In Campbell’s junior year, her volleyball team placed 4th at the state tournament.  She was on the Honor Roll her junior and senior years.  Campbell had this to say, “It’s going to be hard, but hard is not impossible.”

Mara Johnson is a 5’ 8” outside hitter from Twin Bridges, MT.  She lettered all four years in volleyball and received all-conference honors her senior year.  Johnson also received academic all-state and was on high honor roll all four years of high school and is a member of National Honor Society.  Johnson had this to say about playing at DCC, “I want to thank everyone who has helped me reach my goal of continuing my volleyball career and who have helped me get to where I am today.  I am so grateful for the amazing opportunity to play the sport that I love at Dawson Community College, and I am very excited to be a part of the Buccaneer family.”

Channa Clarin is a 6’ 2” middle blocker from Beach, ND.  She lettered all four years in volleyball and was the MVP of her team her senior year.  She also was selected All-Region her senior year.  Clarin was given the opportunity to play volleyball in Australia/Hawaii in the summer of 2014 through the Down Under Sports program.  She was also a member of Junior Olympic Volleyball on a Bismarck team.  She graduated Salutatorian of her class in 2015.  Clarin gave her favorite Bible verse as a quote, Jeremiah 29:11 “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Sydney Lambeth is a 6’0 middle blocker from Belgrade, MT.  She lettered three years in volleyball and three years in track in high school.  She was an All-State selection and All-Conference in track her sophomore and junior years.  She was Academic all-state in volleyball her sophomore through senior years and Academic All-State in track her freshman through junior years.  Lambeth was also involved in competitive shooting from 2008-2015 where she competed at numerous competitions.  She is a member of National Honor Society and also the Salutatorian of her class in Belgrade.  Lambeth said, “I’m really grateful to have been given the opportunity to continue on with my volleyball career and to be a part of the new team at Dawson!”

Coach Fritz has a way to go, but she is pleased with this first group of young women to join the team and looks forward to finding more excellent players hiding in Montana.
