The Lady Battlin’ Bears of Rocky Mountain College JV avenged an earlier loss to the Lady Bucs of Dawson Community College. Rocky showed their aggression as soon as the game tipped off. DCC started off very slow in the first half and Rocky took advantage of that and held a 14 point lead at half time with a score of 44-32. DCC would start the second half strong winning the 3rd quarter 20-11. In the last 7 seconds of the game, Alexius Foster had an opportunity to tie the game at 67, but missed the second free throw of a one and one opportunity. Rocky would make both free throws and win the game 69-66.
DCC Head Women’s Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay had this to say, “We shouldn’t have been in that situation in the first place. I knew that Rocky would be tough to beat on their home court. They lost their last 4 games, wanted revenge on us and they were on their home court. So I knew it was going to be a battle. Coming out slow, and having a poor first half made it difficult to win the game in the end as time ran out.”
Julia Robarge recorded a double double with 18 points and 12 rebounds along with 4 assists and 3 blocks. Alexius Foster had 17 points and 4 rebounds. Emily Harwood had 15 points, 8 rebounds and a game high 7 steals.
