After a stunning overtime win over Sheridan College the other night, DCC Women’s Basketball wins another to make it two games in a row.
The Lady Bucs defeated the Eastern Montana All-Stars 80-37. DCC made quite an impression with a few overall team stats. Although they outrebounded the All-Stars 59-43, the lady bucs only committed 10 personal fouls, had 19 steals and a perfect no turnovers on the game.
Chasity Pope recorded her first double double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Lexia Bell-White led the game with 17 points. Alexius Foster and Emily Harwood each scored 10 points. The Lady Bucs also added two more players to the roster in Sara Anderson (Belt, MT) and Samantha Youngman (Poplar, MT). Both are also members of the DCC Volleyball team. Anderson and Youngman bring an extensive amount of high school successful basketball experience, and it showed in their first appearance tonight. Anderson scored 3 points along with 9 rebounds. Youngman contributed 9 points.
“We were really pleased to see Chasity Pope in the double double column. She has struggled at times, but has been working through it. She’s definitely going to be needed in conference play. The chemistry among the players seems to be clicking at the right time despite losing some members of the team. Going into the holiday break with a winning record is a good feeling to have during this time of the season,” a satisfied Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. said.
The Lady Bucs are 10-6 on the season. They will return to action on Thursday, January 4, 2018 when they face Sheridan College in their second matchup on the road.
