6’0 guard Steven Fisher announced his intentions to attend college at Dawson Community College and play basketball for the Buccaneers.
DCC Coach Joe Peterson commented, “Every time I watched Steven play, I liked him more. From the start, I saw his ability to shoot the ball and defend well, but what really caught my attention later on was the energy and passion he plays with. He loves to play basketball and those kind of players will improve greatly in college because they will put in the time and effort to become the best they are capable of becoming.”
As a senior at Billings Skyview, Fisher averaged 12.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.1 apg and 2.1 spg. His Skyview team was #1 in the state for part of the season and finished 3rd in the Class AA State Tournament in Great Falls. Their final record was 18-4. Fisher was second on his team in scoring and assists and led them in steals. Among all of Class AA, Fisher finished in the top 10 in three categories; steals, 3-point percentage and 3-pointers made and was in the top 20 in three other categories; scoring, assists and free throw percentage.
Fisher had this to say about DCC, “I like the atmosphere there. It’s out in a good area and away from some of the temptations in the big city. The school is isolated so you can focus on your schoolwork and basketball.”
Skyview Coach Kevin Morales chipped in, “Steven is a great kid and a hard worker, plays the game the right way and leaves it all on the floor.”
